8 miles with Dtop

First time in a while that Dtop and I have been able to run together. We did a couple of 3 mile loops and finished up with a last loop of just under 2 for an 8 mile total.

Good steady pace all the way thru of around 11:45. About mile 4 or so I was hurting but felt better after mile 5 or so.

Still feeling a little draggy if that’s a word and slow but getting better. I keep saying this but I really need to watch what I’m eating so I can get down about 8-10 pounds. I still have 8 weeks or so until my half so I can make some progress.

Frustrating Avg Pace

I looked at my average pace for the month of February and I’m extremely frustrated. This is by far the slowest month that I’ve had in the past year and I’m struggling to understand why.

My avg pace of 11’39” is almost as slow as my first month running back in September if 2012.

I know weight still has a lot to do with this but I’m in need of a breakthrough soon.

Off day tomorrow and 3 miles Friday and an 8 miler Saturday.

I’ll keep you posted but I really need this to get a little easier and faster soon.

Half training

So day four of week one in the books. 14 miles for the week. Rough run today as I did 3 yesterday and 4 today. Concentrating on distance and not worrying about speed. I’m trying to burn some fat and lose back down to my September weight so duration is better at the moment than intensity anyway so that isn’t a bad thing.

I’m using the nike running app and the coach function this time around. So we’ll see how that goes.

Next week is 3 miler followed by a five miler times 2.

Ran 2 today

I don’t have time for a long post but ran 2 miles this morning. Loved the cool weather. My watch scared my because I hadn’t changed the time yet and I thought I was an hour behind when I finished and was going to be late for my first meeting.

2 miles at a 10:15 pace. I still feel every one of the 4 or 5 lbs I’ve gained since I’ve backed off on my running. Have to work on that very quickly and get back down where I was.

What’s up

So just a quick note. I haven’t been running due mostly to what appears to be a pinched nerve in my right shoulder/neck area. I ran two miles Thursday and about an hour later I couldn’t turn my head to the left at all. It’s all very discouraging. The doctor put me on muscle relaxers and a steroid dose pack. Sadly I’ve already put on about 4 lbs since I only got to run one day last week.

I’m hoping this clears up soon with rest as it’s finally cooled off here in the south and I’d love to be able to get a run in on a cold morning and chase that with a hot shower.

Such is life. I’ll keep you posted but may not be running until later in the week at this point.
